The Friends are a 501(c)3 whose mission is to support and protect the park founders vision of protecting the resources of the park. They actively support the park through advocacy, financial assistance, and programming support.

A key element of program support are the farm animals which the Friends own. The animals are on loan to the park and cared for by park staff using funds donated by the Friends for the animals upkeep and well being including food, medical care, shelter, facilities and other services the animals may need.

The Friends actively support and co-sponsor a variety of regular events at the park including horse shows, Spring Farm Days, 4-H Fair, and Fall Harvest.

In addition, the Friends have historically considered and provided financial assistance for a variety of community and park needs in keeping with their mission. This has included items ranging from scholorships for children to attend summer camps, equipment, facilities upkeep like pasture fences, summer music series, bluegrass series, staff training and the list goes on.
