“The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others.” —Mahatma Gandhi

I remember hearing many years ago the old saying that he who dies with the most toys wins. It was funny at the time and justified the urge to have the latest and greatest things to hit the market. While shiny new toys like cars and houses look impressive and can provide happiness for a short period of time their ability to do so is short lived as newer cars or more impressive houses eventually hit the market. Keeping up with the Jones"s is never going to be the recipe for long term satisfaction and success. We have seen many people in our lifetime who seemingly have it all, turn to alcohol abuse or drugs or even suicide because of a depression that money or things cannot cure. On the other hand, when we give our time and talents to make an impact on the lives of others we can be fulfilled and experience a sense of joy and freedom that lasts. Parents understand this when after mentoring their children they get to rejoice in what their children become. The cumulative effect of making an impact on others can provide a long lasting benefit to the giver as well as the recipient. As we end one difficult year, lets use this thought as a springboard to action
